Julie retired in 2021 as a full-time, tenured professor at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno, Nevada, after 22 years of clinical and didactic teaching. She was instrumental in the development and accreditation of the program, and advancing it from an Associates Degree program to a Bachelors of Science Degree program. She graduated from Northern Arizona University, in Flagstaff, Arizona with a BSDH in 1979. She earned her Masters in Public Health from University of Nevada, Reno in 2007, with an emphasis in geriatrics. She has more than 42 years of experience in general dental practice as well as periodontics and public health. Her greatest passion is to help increase access to dental care to underserved populations. In 1998, Ms. Rosenberg helped establish and open Health Access Washoe County (HAWC) dental clinic, the first public health dental clinic in Reno. This is now known as Community Health Alliance (CHA). She also served on the Advisory Board of the Nevada Oral Health Program (AC4OH) for many years, as well as the on Advisory Board of Nevada Network Against Domestic Violence. From 2012-2016 Julie served on the Board of Directors for Compassion Community Clinic, the only free dental clinic in Northern Nevada serving uninsured adults. She currently serves as an oral health consultant to Head Start, on the state, regional, and national level in her role as a Dental Hygiene Liaison. As a dental hygiene instructor, she developed a long-standing relationship with UNR Early Head Start, introducing students to hands-on public health activities whereby they provide biannual dental screenings and fluoride varnish to children ages 0-3 years. She has been an active member of the Nevada and Northern Nevada Dental Hygiene Associations, and has held a number of leadership positions. In her free time, she enjoys Pilates, yoga, kayaking, bicycling, hiking and traveling adventures with her husband, and spending time with her adorable grandchildren.
